Objective – Fire Damage Restoration
Our client is a construction company building a residential care home. The building was subjected to a petrol bomb arson attack. Smoke odour had infiltrated the building and construction was delayed. Because of our industry knowledge and experience, Ideal Response were chosen to provide rapid fire damage restoration and complete air & surface decontamination.
Our Briefing
Soot and ash damage and contamination were evident throughout the ground floor, most severely around the seat of the fire. Damage included contamination in the majority of the internal block work, the metal ceilings and steel beams. Smoke odour had impregnated materials throughout the building. Given the purpose of the building it was essential that effective decontamination and the neutralisation of smoke odour was 100% guaranteed.

Operatives had attempted to remove soot prior to our arrival but it was evident that this was below the standard required. Ideal Response inspected the site and after discussion with our client, implemented a 4-stage fire decontamination process. The entire ceiling and all steel beams throughout the ground floor underwent a thorough manual degrease and decontamination. Surface soot was removed using a HEPA rated vacuum system and all block work was cleaned by chemical degreasing then sealed. A chemical degrease was applied to walls. All traces of soot were removed and soot fix applied to all block work to eliminate airborne particulates and any possibility of future odour. BioSweep® decontamination technology was used to provide 100% odour neutralisation guarantee.

A positive and satisfying outcome for Ideal Response and the client, potentially saving £200,000 for our client.
