The Challenge

Not only was the building covered in graffiti, but most of it had been there for a while – the best time to clear graffiti is to begin the treatment within the first 48 hours. Onto the graffiti removal itself: we began by applying a 2-3mm coat of paint softener, which worked to break down the paint. This was left overnight to get to work. Then, the real business started as we deployed our DOFF system.

This is a steam-based stone cleaning system that is unlike any other steam system in the world. It can reach temperatures of up to 150°C at the nozzle end which can, along with the pressure, be varied by the operator depending on the conditions. The combination of high temperatures and high pressure delivers a gentle, but highly effective clean. Crucially, the surface is not saturated with water, so it has a very quick drying time.

Our DOFF system was used all over the affected areas, as we carefully negotiated the layout of the property and the working staff.

The Result

For jobs like this, I feel that it is better to let the pictures do the talking. As you will see from the before and after photos, not a trace of the graffiti was left on the property, as it was restored to its former appearance – all with minimal disruption to the work in the warehouse.
