Your Ideal Damp Survey
If you have identified an area of damp in your property, then quickly finding the root cause of the issue is vital before it gets worse and costs more to put right. Our range of damp surveys provide a cost-effective solution that will highlight the cause of the damp problem. We also provide recommendations on how to put it right. Our damp surveys and associated reports are undertaken by an experienced and accredited surveyor.
We understand that there is no one-size-fits-all, so we offer a range of damp survey options. This means that you can simply choose the right level of survey to suit your requirements.
When to get a damp survey?
Signs that you may have a problem with damp and require a damp survey include:
- Patches of black mould appearing on walls
- Wet ceilings, walls and staining
- Peeling wallpaper and paint
- A musty smell within the building
Rainwater penetration, leaking pipes and poor ventilation that leads to condensation are all common causes that customers experience which lead to instances of damp. This can often result in mould growth and can cause respiratory issues if exposed to it for prolonged period.
What type of survey and how much does it cost?
Ideal Response offer three core levels of damp survey: Basic, Standard and Advanced. In addition, there are optional bolt-ons you can include for both the Basic and Standard surveys which are outlined below.
Why choose a damp survey from Ideal Response?
On the day of your damp survey, your dedicated Ideal Response damp surveyor will endeavour to contact you when they are only an hour away. The damp survey and report include:
- A visual inspection the site – Identifying signs of moisture. From abnormal microbial growth to visible areas of mould growth.
- Surface moisture measurements -These are taken at areas identified as a cause for concern by our damp surveyor, using a state-of-the-art moisture meter.
- Photographic evidence and survey findings (internal & external) – Photographs will be taken to highlight issues identified during the survey, and subsequently, to document the progress of works undertaken by Ideal Response. Photos will be accompanied by notes, annotations, and content that our surveyor deems relevant to adequately convey our survey findings.
- Recommendations – Based on the observations and level of damage witnessed at the site address, we will provide a scope of works that outlines recommendations of the work required to make safe, limit secondary damage, and restore the affected area(s).
- Drying goals and timeframes – Typically following any moisture damage, and to achieve the best possible results, we recommend a restorative drying program. This reduces the risk of possible secondary damage and limits the possibility of mould and fungal growth within the premises.
- Final report – All findings and recommendations are provided in a comprehensive report, usually sent between 7-10 days of the survey.
Please note, the recommendations will vary depending on if the site has an area of concern (visible mould). Also if any areas of damp (no visible mould) are present, which takes a more whole site approach.
If you choose Ideal Response to undertake the work, the cost of the survey will be deducted from the quote.
